Romance of Septimus Smith

"Romance" is a stand-alone piece for piano. It is meant to convey a similar character to the Septimus Smith of Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway. A character who is suicidal, paranoid, and conflicted with PTSD in the present, but maintains traces of his past; an idealistic, and passionate world war one general. To portray this, the piece is dramatic, emotional, and often haphazard, well being in a relatively typical tonal structure.
